From Audits and Assets to Clean Energy: The Sunkom Power Story

INDORE – In 2020, as the global economy grappled with uncertainty, two seasoned professionals with a combined 30 years of global expertise decided to rewrite the rules of the energy sector. Himanshu Dhakad, a meticulous Chartered Accountant, and Amit Singh Chouhan, a strategic MBA, walked away from high-powered corporate careers to bootstrap a vision that has now become a global disruptor: Sunkom Power.

What began as a mission to provide “Society as a Service” has evolved into a multi-sectoral powerhouse, moving beyond simple solar panels to create a blueprint for a self-sustainable India.

Precision Meets Vision: The Founders’ Edge

The meteoric rise of Sunkom Power is rooted in the professional rigour of its founders. With 12–15 years of international experience each, Dhakad and Chouhan brought a unique “audit-to-execution” mindset to renewable energy.

By mastering both CAPEX (ownership) and CAPEX-free OPEX (subscription) models, they dismantled the financial barriers to green energy. Their “Micro-Solar OPEX” plants on industrial rooftops have allowed corporate giants to transition to clean power with zero upfront friction.

Today, their portfolio reads like a “Who’s Who” of industry leaders, including Tata International, KFC, Pizza Hut, NMIMS, Jepika Paints, and SealWell.

Breaking the Oil & Gas Chain

Sunkom’s current mission is its most ambitious yet: systematically reducing India’s dependency on imported oil and gas. By integrating decentralized solar technology into heavy industrial processes, Sunkom is providing a viable, cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels, directly contributing to the nation’s goal of energy sovereignty.

Revolutionizing the Farm and the Home

The disruption doesn’t stop at the factory gate. Sunkom Power is aggressively expanding into two critical sectors:

Sustainable Agriculture: Recognizing that energy is the key to rural prosperity, Sunkom has introduced Solar Mini Cold Chains. These localized, sun-powered units prevent post-harvest losses, effectively doubling farm income by allowing farmers to store and sell produce at peak prices.

Self-Sustainable Infrastructure: The company is now entering the real estate and infrastructure sector, developing Self-Sustainable Housing Projects. These homes are designed to be energy-positive, reducing the burden on the national grid and offering a carbon-neutral lifestyle to modern homeowners.

A Global Footprint with Deep Roots

While Sunkom Power is now operating on a global stage, their operational strength is

particularly formidable in South India, where they have established a robust network of high-performing solar installations. From the industrial hubs of the South to international

markets, the “Sunkom Model” is proving that environmental service and economic growth are not just compatible—they are inseparable.

“We are no longer just an energy company,” says Amit Singh Chouhan. “We are an infrastructure for a self-reliant future.”

“Our numbers tell a story of impact,” adds Himanshu Dhakad. “Every kilowatt we install is a step away from oil dependency and a step toward a sustainable legacy for India.”
