First Test Match Between India and South Africa: Will Ravichandran Ashwin Get A Chance?

India will play the Proteas in the first Test of the two-match series, which begins on December 26 at SuperSport Park in Centurion, with the goal of winning their first-ever Test series in South Africa. India will resume their quest for the historic series victory with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and themselves. In all, India has played eight Test series in South Africa. They lost seven of them and drew one. This time, the Indian squad led by Rohit will try to reverse the situation.

Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series, while Ishan Kishan withdrew for “personal reasons”

The following is our best guess for India’s starting lineup against South Africa in the first Test:

Rohit Sharma (c): Following the heartbreaking Cricket World Cup 2023 final, this will be the captain of India’s first match. As India looks to win their first-ever Test series in South Africa, he will try to put the past behind him and go into the first Test with more vigor.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: The prodigy, who has shown encouraging signals at the beginning of his international career, will put himself to the test. He will probably get an opportunity to open for India.

Shubman Gill: If he bats at number three, which was long held by the reliable Cheteshwar Pujara, the star batsman would also be in the limelight. India intends to go without the seasoned Test player, and Gill’s performance during the demanding trip to South Africa will be a key indicator of the decision’s effects.

Virat Kohli: Following a hiatus following the Cricket World Cup final, the right-handed batsman will don the Indian colors once again. Unlike the 2021–21 series he captained, he is traveling the team this time around as a batter. Kohli will, nonetheless, always be driven to score runs and help his team win the game.

Shreyas Iyer: Iyer has shown a lot of promise in his ten Test matches, but South Africa will provide a new kind of obstacle for him, particularly given that short balls have historically been his worst enemy.

KL Rahul (wk): In addition to making significant inroads at bat, KL Rahul will be the man in the middle in South Africa. With his improved wicketkeeping in the ODIs, he duly impressed, and now the elegant player is in for another test.

Another key player for the Indian squad in the Test series against South Africa will be the southpaw Ravindra Jadeja. The pace-friendly surfaces in the nation don’t offer much to aid spinners, but Jadeja’s ability to limit runs will be crucial for India.

Shardul Thakur: India may make significant strides thanks to his swing bowling on South Africa’s pace-friendly surface. Still, it would be a nice exercise for batter Shardul Thakur.

Prasidh Krishna: He could have an advantage over Mukesh Kumar because of the bounce that the right-arm bowler gets from any surface. He might be utilized to take Mohammed Shami’s place, who is out of the series due to injury.

Jasprit Bumrah: Following a hiatus following the World Cup, the speed leader will rejoin the Indian squad. As a top performer on any stage, Bumrah will love the circumstances of South Africa.

Mohammed Siraj: Siraj has developed into one of the top active pacers in Test cricket throughout the years. India would be depending on him to make significant advances.
